HH: A loud "HeyHo" from Germany's Heavyhardes! Right at the moment I am listening to Hear! which is a thing I haven't done for a while (New Audio Machine animated me that much!!). I still believe Hear! is the better album compared to the debut, but unfortunately never got the reputation deserved. Would you agree?

Steve: Yes... I love HEAR. I think the band was really on fire at that time. After touring for 13 months in support of the first cd when it became time to record HEAR, the band was really rockin. Working with Jimbo Barton was also an incredible experience.

HH: So my sincere congratulations to New Audio Machine. You completely delivered the goods and brought out the perfect spring-record. Thumbs up and car-windows down to take a little cruise listening to Trixter like back in 1992!!

Steve: Thank you so much. We are so proud of the way this cd came out. Its a great melodic rock cd. Frontiers records has been a great support to Trixter.

HH: Listening to New Audio Machine it seems as it hasn't been 18 years since Undercovers and 20 since Hear!. In my eyes you picked up the ball where Hear! ended and recorded an album sounding very fresh and vivid. It's been a long time, hasn't it? Why did the hiatus have to be that long?

Steve: It's been almost 20 years. A long time but we needed a break. But its great to be back with killer music. It took Van Halen 28 years to make a new cd with David Lee Roth and I agree with that the band hasn't skipped a beat. I think we are at our best.

HH: One fine thing is that it is the original line-up performing on New Audio Machine! So the fan gets what he/she wants: pure Trixter! Most reunions nowadays (and there are many) only climb halfway up the ladder. So, was it easy to get together as the original fourpiece? Was there a keypoint when everything fell in place to record a new album?

Steve: When we put the band back together on 2007 it happened very easily. We were all ready for it. The time was right. Trixter is not just a rock band... we are family like brothers, so we have a great friendship. There are only a few bands of the hard genre that are all original. Aerosmigh, Mötley Crüe, Poison, Cinderella & Trixter. We are in some great company. The cd came together over the course of a year. Songs like "Drag Me Down", "Tattoos & Misery" got the ball rolling.

HH: Any personal favourites on the album? Mine at the moment are "Walk With A Stranger", the awesome "Machine" and "Get On It"! Are there any stories behind these tracks or any anecdotes to tell?

Steve: I love the whole cd. I really dig it. "Walk With A Stranger" was from back in 1988. It was given to us from Snake and Rachel from Skid Row. That tune really kicks ass. "Machine" and "Get On It" were the last two songs written for the cd. Those songs really pulled the whole cd together. Very rockin!

HH: My guitarist (who just came in, ha, ha) just told me to ask (what I of course do) you why and how you started playing guitar and why you decided to get together a Glam- and Sleaze-combo at first. Was New Jersey the right place back then for that kind of music?

Steve: I started playing at eight years old after hearing Van Halen 1. That album changed my life as it did for so many guitar players. EVH rules! New Jersey is an awesome music state. Bon Jovi, Skid Row, Trixter, My Chemical Romance, The Smithereens... do I have to keep goin???

HH: How did the recording-process go? You worked together with Chuck Alzakian who is known for his collaboration e.g. with Elton John and Christina Aguilera. So, to choose him is at least a little unusual.

Steve: Chuck is an amazing rock producer. He's a good friend of mine and added some sweet touches to the cd. He's a rocker, but has worked with some music that's not so crunchy.

HH: You also hooked up with Snake Sabo, Rachel Bolan and former Styx member Glen Burtnik. In what ways did they contribute to New Audio Machine?

Steve: Glen and I wrote "Drag Me Down" together and Snake and Rachel wrote "Walk With A Stranger".

HH: The weather for original Glam- and Sleaze Metal hasn't been that good since Grunge took over. Why was it possible for that kind of music to celebrate such an impressive comeback? In the US you even got those big festivals dedicated to exactly this genre!

Steve: People want to have fun again... party. Grunge is downer music. Trixter is Fun Rock music.

HH: I guess Frontiers was the perfect choice as they kinda specialized themselves to bringing back the old legends and offer a platform for new acts of the genre. Satisfied with the record-company so far?

Steve: Serafino and the Frontiers crew have been great to us. So happy with all they have done for us.

HH: There are many, many new exciting Glam- and Sleaze Metal-bands around these days, such as Crazy Lixx, Crashdiet, Sister, Taking Dawn or Mama Kin, just to name a few. Are you familiar with their works? What do you think of them?

Steve: I know them all and I think they all rock. Love that stuff!

HH: All of those acts picked up the sound of the 80s and early 90s and (sometimes) did something new with it, but as usual the inventors cannot be topped. So could you be so kind to assemble a list of your favourite ten Glam- and Sleaze records of the 80s/90s?

Steve:
1- Van Halen - Fair Warning
2- Def Leppard - Hysteria
3- Ratt - Invasion Of Your Privacy
4- Mötley Crüe - Shout At The Devil
5- Bon Jovi - New Jersey
6- Skid Row - Skid Row
7- KIX - Midnight Dynamite
8- Night Ranger - Dawn Patrol
9- Twisted Sister - Under The Blade
10- Dokken - Under Lock & Key

HH: You got an opinion (you'd like to share) 'bout the recent Guns N' Roses clinch, with Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin not showing up at the Rock n' Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony?

Steve: I'm bummed they didnt show. Guns needs to reunite.

HH: It's time for Trixter to come over to Europe, isn't it? Any chance that happens in the near future? We e.g. got Swedenrock or the newer Shout It Out Loud-festival (in Germany).

Steve: Oh yeah... we have never played Europe. That is one of our dreams.

HH: All and all what are your plans for 2012/13? I hope New Audio Machine wasn't the last we heard from you, already plans for other releases?

Steve: Now it's time to play live as much as possible. We have about 20 dates booked so far and for sure Trixter will make more new music ..., but New Audio Machine will be worked for at least two years.

HH: By the way: do you still live in New Jersey (haven't you also moved to L.A. back in times)? Any interesting clubs or places to go to on the next U.S.-trip?

Steve: I do still live in NJ... I love it. Go to Platinum Dollz in Passaic NJ... lots of fun.

HH: It's been a pleasure for me to prepare those questions for you. One of the kind which (not that long ago) I thought would never happen. It's been an honour. The last words are reserved for you:

Steve: Thank you for digging Trixter and all the support. It really means alot to us!
