HH: Hi, how are you? I'm Mark from the German Heavyhardes Metal Magazine. I've listened to your new album and I'm deeply impressed. The sound doesn't sound like a new and young band. The tunes are very melodic and the songs are well structured. Also the production seems to be very good. So, for those in Germany who don't know If Hope Dies, how would you describe your music and your band?

Gary Mann: Well thank you kindly. We are a rip rockin band with some sikk thrash parts and nasty ass breakdowns. Hahaha. I guess? What ever. Describing your own band is always so hard. We are just metal dudes that wanna tour the world and have a blast doing it.

HH: Can you say something of the origin of your band? Where are you from and what was the reason for you to found If Hope Dies?

Gary Mann: Well we were in a shitty punk band called The Spastics when we were kids and we switched instruments and got a new drummer and here we are eight years later. We just figured why not hang out in a van instead of the mall.

HH: What about the name of your band? Why did chose this name?

Gary Mann: Well eight years ago there were little to no bands with the word "die" or "hope" in it. Fast forward to today and every cock, dick and harry has those words in their name. It sucks so bad but whatever, we're stuck with it now. It pretty much sums up all our lyrics in that if you give up hope in the future and in yourself - that's it, it's over.

HH: How would you describe your new album Life In Ruin?

Gary Mann: Its pretty good man! Haha. Its what we've always wanted to sound like but didn't really know how to write it. You can hear our old style in there, we just stepped it up a ton with structure and added a lot more bad ass. Yeah that's good enough? Give it a listen and see what ya think.

HH: What do you think about the reaction of the press?

Gary Mann: The press are lame. I've done some cool ass interviews but the reviews are sooo fucking dumb. They don't even make sense half the time. Some said we sound like Throwdown meets 3 inches of blood. Idiots! Whatever, I say listen to the record and decide for yourself, that's the only way to know if you truly like it.

HH: Are you planning a tour through Europe and especially Germany?

Gary Mann: We bust the label and managers' asses about going to Europe daily. Playing Germany is a huge goal of ours as a band so we are doing whatever it takes to get there asap.

HH: Last but not least, do you have some final words?

Gary Mann: When we do get to germany every single one of you motherfuckers better know every word of our cd and you better scream it at the top of your lungs, even if you don't speak our language! Rock on and rock out!

HH: So, thank you for taking time for the interview! Happy Easter!

Gary Mann: Fuck Easter!! Haha

Mark
