HH: Massacre Records have just released "3rd Stage Of Decay, Third Edition" over here and it rocks, respectively thrashes, our socks off, I dare say. How does it feel, being a young band but already having had three releases of your record?
Kitty: That is indeed great to hear, thank you very much! I always felt that this album was special to us and that it would bring us something more than our previous works have. So, having it re-released now is definitely like a dream coming true for us and we are glad that it will get the real exposure we've always wanted it to have, and also to the whole band itself. The process to get to this point with this 3rd edition seems natural when looking back at it but at the same time it feels unbelievable. I couldn't have guessed that 3rd Stage of Decay would be released three times, by three different labels and in three different editions. Maybe it's something about that number! In any case, it feels amazing and now, when we move on to our fourth album (in production now) it definitely feels that we've done everything we could to get this album out.
HH: You're at recording the successing album. How's the work going on? When will it be unleashed upon mankind?
Kitty: Yes, we are in the studio now. The drum recording is complete and the rhythm guitar wall and bass are more than halfway through now. We actually planned to have this next coming album released this fall of '08 but since the unexpected re-release of 3rd Stage of Decay appeared, we decided to postpone the next coming album at least a couple of months. The exact release date is in Massacre Records' hands now. We do however apologize for this to our old fans that have been waiting since 2006 now (and are used to fast releases from us!) but we will make sure that it will be worth the wait!
HH: Apropos "Unleashed". Sweden and especially Stockholm are quite famous for the typical "Swedish Death". Why did you decide to play Melodic Thrash Metal?
Kitty: Death Metal is already dominating the Metal scene. Scandinavia is flooding with all Melodic Death Metal bands, with Swedish Death at the top, and the scene will grow even further and even faster in the nearest future. Living in this Death Metal dominated area we feel that it is the Thrash Metal scene that needs support and we will do our best to keep it growing. One of Decadence's goals is to strengthen the Thrash Metal scene, with a new touch but still in the roots of the old, great, Bay Area.
HH: According to your Homepage, you haven't been to Germany yet. When is Decadence going to hit the stage over here? When are you planning to do your next European Tour?
Kitty: That's right, we have (strangely enough) not played in Germany yet. Germany is actually our top priority right now and we definitely want to make a stop there during the next tour. We will head out on the road as soon as our next coming album is complete. Right now we want to focus 150% on the studio and our new album.
HH: I was astonished when I saw the Metallic Kitty-Doll designed by the Japanese artists Miho and Kisakino. How and why did this cooperation emerge?
Kitty: So was I, when I saw that doll by coincidence I almost fell off my chair! I was surfing around the net and I stumbled upon Miho's MySpace page. I could immediately tell she was a Decadence fan and, being a doll artist, she had made a doll of me. I gave her my full support and after a while Kisakino had also joined in and started to make real miniature replicas of my clothing. Since the interest from other fans started to rise, this became a limited production and that's how it all started. I made the website: metallickitty.decadence.se on the basis of Miho's and Kisakino's wishes and to make it official that this doll is now a part of our official merchandise.
HH: Last but not least, would you like to say something to our readers?
Kitty: Thank you and the readers for sharing this interview with me and I can end it by saying something that I say quite often to myself: if there's a will, there's a way!
Fab
